Modern Foreign Languages
At St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, our languages curriculum provides our Key Stage 2 children with a strong foundation in French, so that they can go on to communicate with confidence and competence in this language. We believe that learning a second language is essential for our students' personal and academic growth, and it opens up a world of opportunities for them in the future. We have chosen to use the Language Angels programme as it provides comprehensive support for teachers in delivering the French curriculum and includes engaging resources that will capture the attention of our young learners.
Our aim is to ensure that through learning an additional language, our children will develop an appreciation and understanding of another culture outside of the UK, as well as an appreciation for the importance of language learning in today's interconnected world. We will achieve this by providing a range of stimulating and interactive learning experiences, which will enable our students to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in French.
We want our children to leave St Joseph's with a solid foundation in French and a love for language learning that will stay with them for life. We believe that by providing a high-quality language education, we are equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a globalised world and to become responsible and engaged citizens of the future.
