Reception
Spring 1
Welcome back! We are so happy to see your smiling faces and to begin a brand new term together. We hope you had a wonderful break and are feeling excited and ready to learn, play, and explore with your friends again.
This term we will be learning all about Travel and Transport—from cars, buses, and trains to planes, boats, and even bikes! We will be going on lots of imaginary journeys through stories, art, building, and fun activities. Get ready to explore how people travel, where they go, and how different vehicles help us move around the world.
We can’t wait to share this exciting adventure with you. Let’s have a fantastic term full of learning, laughter, and discovery!
PE
Our PE day will be on a Friday. Therefore, please can children come to school wearing their PE kits on this day. Please note that PE days will continue to change every half-term.
Homework
Homework will be given out each Friday and should be back in school by the following Wednesday.
Reading: Your child will bring home a library book for you to enjoy together. They will also bring home a Read Write Inc. (RWI) book to support their reading progress. The children are very excited to have their own reading book to share at home! Please ensure your child brings their library book and reading folder to school each day, as books will be changed weekly. Please sign the reading diary to show you've read with your child.
The children have shown great interest in learning about 'People Who Help Us' and have been asking lots of thoughtful questions about different jobs in our community. In response to this, we have planned activities within our continuous provision to explore roles such as doctors, firefighters, dentists, and police officers. These experiences will support the children in developing their understanding of the world around them through role play, discussion, and imaginative learning.
