Religious Education

At St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality Religious Education curriculum that promotes the teachings of the Catholic faith and supports the spiritual and moral development of our pupils. We ensure that they develop a deep understanding of the Catholic Faith and are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to live their lives as faithful, compassionate, and responsible members of their communities.

We recognise the importance of creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all children feel valued and respected, whatever their background or beliefs. Our RE curriculum aims to promote respect, understanding, and tolerance of different faiths and cultures while celebrating the rich traditions and teachings of the Catholic Faith.

We inspire our students to become lifelong learners and disciples of Christ who are committed to living out the values of the Catholic Faith in all aspects of their lives. We believe that by providing a high-quality RE curriculum that is rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, we can help our children to develop a strong sense of purpose, meaning, and direction in their lives and make a positive difference to the world around them.

At St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, our RE curriculum is based on the Archdiocese of Birmingham's 'Learning and Growing as the People of God' document, which provides a comprehensive framework for the teaching and learning of the Catholic Faith. This is central to our school's mission and values, and we are committed to fostering a deep sense of spirituality and a strong Catholic identity in our students.

Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, challenging, and relevant to the lives of our children. We aim to provide a rich and varied learning experience that includes a range of teaching methods and resources, including digital technology, visual aids, and hands-on activities. Our curriculum also includes opportunities for pupils to participate in liturgical celebrations, events and ceremonies, which help them to deepen their faith and put it into action.

The RE curriculum is a collaboration between school, home, and parish and a focus on our school mission statement underpins all that we do at St. Joseph's school, and is the essence of our Catholic Education.
