Our patron, Saint Joseph is an example to us of how to aspire to what is best in life - to dream big, work hard, place our faith in God and protect those in need of our care.

Saint Joseph was a loving father figure to Jesus and husband to Mary.  He is known for his love and devotion to them and for his unswerving faith in God. 

The Bible tells us of an angel appearing to Joseph in his dreams on several occasions.  The angel gave Joseph direct instructions about what he should do.  On each occasion, Joseph put his own plans to one side, placed his trust in God and did what the angel asked him.  In doing so, he was instrumental in God’s will being accomplished.

In his dreams, Joseph was able to recognise God’s plans, place his trust in God and work faithfully to bring them to fruition.  In his love and protection for Mary and Jesus, Joseph never lost sight of their needs and always put them above his own.

Celebrating our patron saint

Saint Joseph’s feast day is on 19^th March.  We celebrate our feast day by coming together as a whole school to celebrate Mass.  We echo St. Joseph’s day traditions from Italy and other European countries by collecting food donations which are added to our St. Joseph’s day display and these are then given to Thame foodbank.  This initiative is organised and led by our prayer and worship pupil leaders.

Throughout the rest of the day, we take part in activities which help us to learn more about St. Joseph and we have a home-made biscuit in the afternoon as a special treat.
